EXCEL V+

Laser Genesis and CoolView™ are both treatment modes available with the Excel V+ laser system, which serve different purposes however are designed for specific skin concerns.

LASER GENESIS vs COOLVIEW™

LASER GENESIS

Laser Genesis, performed using Cutera’s Excel V+ technology, works by gently heating the upper dermis with pulsing micro-beams of laser energy. This process helps diffuse redness, stimulate collagen production, and refine skin texture by minimising the appearance of large pores and irregularities.

PRIMARY BENEFITS

  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles

  • Stimulates collagen production for firmer, more youthful skin

  • Minimises the appearance of pores for a refined complexion

  • Improves redness and mild scarring (including acne scars)

  • Creates a smoother, more even skin tone

TREATMENT EXPERIENCE

Laser Genesis is a comfortable, non-invasive treatment, often described as a warm, soothing sensation on the skin. With no downtime, it’s ideal for those with busy lifestyles.

This relaxing, rejuvenating treatment leaves your skin feeling radiant, refreshed, and revitalised—without any disruption to your daily routine.

  • Skin Assessment & Custom Plan: A thorough skin analysis ensures your treatment is tailored to your unique needs.

Cleanse & Exfoliation: Your skin is professionally cleansed and gently exfoliated for optimal laser absorption.

Laser Treatment: The Laser Genesis device delivers micro-pulses of laser energy, gently heating the skin to stimulate collagen production, refine texture, and reduce redness.

Enhancements for Best Results (if recommended)

    • Chemical Peel: May be added to brighten and smooth the skin.

    • LED Light Therapy: Helps accelerate healing and boost collagen stimulation.

  • Optimising Your Skincare Routine

To strengthen your skin before treatment, your clinician will recommend a tailored cosmeceutical skincare regimen. These products contain active ingredients that work at a deeper level to:

    • Improve skin resilience and hydration

    • Reduce inflammation and sensitivity

    • Enhance collagen stimulation for better Laser Genesis results

    Pre-Treatment Guidelines

    • Avoid Sun Exposure (1–2 Weeks Prior). Sun exposure increases the risk of pigmentation and sensitivity. Always wear SPF 50+ and avoid direct sun exposure leading up to your treatment.

    • Tanned Skin Cannot Be Treated. If your skin is tanned—whether from the sun, solariums, or fake tan—it increases the risk of complications. Your skin must be in its natural state for safe and effective treatment.

    • Pause Retinols & Exfoliants (A Few Days Before). Retinoids, AHAs, and strong exfoliants can make your skin more sensitive. Stop using them a few days before your session to prevent irritation.

By following these steps, you’ll ensure your skin is in prime condition for Laser Genesis, allowing for the best possible results.

  • Following your Laser Genesis treatment, proper aftercare will help enhance results and keep your skin calm and protected.

    Immediate Post-Treatment Care

    • Redness & Warmth: Mild redness and a warm sensation are normal and usually subside within a few hours. Apply a cool compress (wrapped in a soft cloth) if needed to soothe the skin.

    • Hydration and Skincare: Keep your skin hydrated with a mild cleanser, non-active serum and soothing balm to support healing. (Prescribed by your clinician)

    • Sun Protection: Your skin will be more sensitive to UV exposure. Apply SPF 50+ daily and avoid direct sun exposure for at least one week to prevent pigmentation changes.

    What to Avoid

    • Heat & Sweating: Avoid hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and strenuous exercise for 24 hours to prevent excessive heat build up in the skin.

    • Harsh Skincare Products: Avoid retinol, AHAs, BHAs, and strong exfoliants for at least 3–5 days to prevent irritation.

    Ongoing Care for Best Results

    • Continue using cosmeceutical skincare as recommended by your clinician to support skin health and collagen production.

    • A series of treatments is recommended for optimal results, as benefits build over time.

If you experience prolonged redness or sensitivity, contact your clinician for guidance.

COOLVIEW™

CoolView™ is a targeted laser treatment designed to address vascular and pigmentary concerns with precision. Unlike Laser Genesis, which provides overall skin rejuvenation, CoolView™ delivers focused laser energy to treat spider veins, facial redness, broken capillaries, rosacea, brown spots, and sun damage. By precisely targeting problem areas, it effectively reduces discolouration and improves overall skin clarity.

PRIMARY BENEFITS

  • Reduces visible veins, including broken capillaries and rosacea

  • Corrects pigmentation issues from sun damage and hyperpigmentation

  • More precise and localised compared to Laser Genesis for specific concerns

TREATMENT EXPERIENCE

CoolView™ uses targeted laser pulses to break down pigmentation and vascular lesions. This may result in a slightly more intense sensation compared to Laser Genesis, but it remains tolerable.

CoolView™ provides powerful, precise correction for vascular and pigmentation concerns, leaving your skin clearer and more even-toned with minimal downtime.

  • Skin Assessment & Custom Plan: A thorough consultation ensures the treatment is tailored to your skin’s needs.

Preparation & Skin Cleansing. The skin is cleansed, and protective eyewear is provided for safety.

    Targeted Laser Application

    • The laser is applied directly to the area of concern, delivering short, precise pulses.

    • You may feel a mild snapping or warming sensation during treatment.

  • Optimising Your Skincare Routine

To strengthen your skin before treatment, your clinician will recommend a tailored cosmeceutical skincare regimen. These products contain active ingredients that work at a deeper level to:

    • Improve skin resilience and hydration

    • Reduce inflammation and sensitivity

    • Enhance collagen stimulation for better Coolview™ results

By following these steps, you’ll ensure your skin is in prime condition for Coolview™, allowing for the best possible results.

  • After a CoolView™ treatment, it is normal to experience mild redness and swelling, especially in areas where the laser has targeted vascular or pigmentary concerns. These effects are temporary and typically subside within a few hours to a few days, depending on your skin’s sensitivity and the intensity of the treatment.

    Why Redness and Swelling Occur

    • The laser energy stimulates circulation and triggers a healing response, leading to temporary redness.

    • Swelling may occur as the body works to repair the treated area and flush out broken-down pigment or vascular irregularities.

How to Reduce Redness & Swelling

    • Cool Compress: Applying a cold compress (or a chilled, damp cloth) can help reduce swelling and soothe redness. Avoid applying ice directly to the skin—wrap it in a soft cloth to prevent irritation.

    • Hydration & Skincare: Keep your skin hydrated with a gentle moisturiser, and avoid harsh or active skincare products (e.g., retinols, AHAs) for a few days.

    • Sun Protection: Always apply SPF 50+ as treated skin is more sensitive to UV exposure.

These effects are a natural part of the healing process, and following proper aftercare will ensure the best possible results from your treatment.
